If wrought iron rust removal is not done in time then the rust can cause permanent damage to wrought iron furniture making it weak. Here are some rust removal techniques that can remove rust from wrought iron products.

Put some oil or plain white vinegar on the wrought iron with rust. Lemons can also be used to rub area that is rusty. Make a paste with baking soda and water and apply it on the wrought iron having rust.

Leave the wrought iron product for a few minutes to let the vinegar or oil loosen up the rust. Baking soda paste must be left for more time to let it loosen the rust.

With the help of a wire wool, scrub the rusted area on wrought iron. Be careful about not scratching the paint (unless the rust is so bad that the furniture needs repainting).

If the rust is not removed, put some more vinegar and leave it for some more time.

To remove a stubborn rust from wrought iron, you may have to use a sandpaper too.

If you want to stop rust and prevent your wrought iron from getting rust then apply a coat of liquid wax after removing rust from wrought iron. Liquid wax can be found at any automotive store. Wax helps protect the wrought iron finish against further rust.

If what you want to remove from wrought iron is not rust flakes but only rust stains, you need to do only a little work. Just dip a very fine steel-wool pad into kerosene, and brush out the rust stains. Remember to wear safety glasses and rubber gloves when working with kerosene and take care not to use kerosene near sources of fire. Its better if you do it in the open.
